Testimonies of healing: lights for the world

It's not always the dramatic healings that stand out as beacons. Something that seems quite ordinary can assure us of God's care and love.

The heart-swelling light of home (be it the lantern's glow from a cabin, a porch light in town, or a farm's yard light), the spectacular northern lights, the first show of coastal lights viewed from a boat's dark deck—these have stopped the world for me many times.

After especially appreciating an array of lights that helped me find my destination along a remote and unfamiliar seashore, I realized how much sparkling lights at night reminded me of the testimonies of Christian Science healing that have lighted my way for so many years. So many times testimonies I've heard in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, have reminded me of God's presence and care—inexhaustibly imparting, gloriously renewing, even answering before being called on!

And how invigorating it is to sit in on the warmth of gratitude for God's goodness—whether it's my own or someone else's. For both speakers and listeners, testimonies often give a "going home" sense of brotherhood and of belonging to our Father-Mother God. They are like a welcoming light that says the door is always open for you, too!
