I would like to relate a healing in Christian Science concerning our daughter. She was one year old and had just started to walk when she became ill. I noticed the difficulty when I went in to check on her as she was taking her afternoon nap. I immediately called a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to pray for our daughter and for me. The child had a long nap. When she woke in the evening she seemed to be in pain. Prayer was continued and the pain subsided after a while. We were in communication with the practitioner by telephone throughout the night.

The child's father, my former husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, became very fearful and requested that I take our daughter to a physician for a diagnosis the following day. At first I was reluctant to do this, but I realized that I didn't want to put the child in the middle, caught between opposite views of what should be done.

The next day I took the child to a leading pediatrician in Los Angeles. After examining our daughter he commented on her inability to sit up. I told him that this had happened with the sickness. He spoke to me further, then indicated that our daughter had passed the crisis, or acute stage, of a form of meningitis and was recovering.
