In Christian Science we learn that allaying fear is the first step...
In Christian Science we learn that allaying fear is the first step in Christian Science treatment. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy states (p. 410): "Christian scientific practice begins with Christ's keynote of harmony, 'Be not afraid!'" In the following experience, the prayerful handling of fear at the outset contributed greatly to the healing outcome.
One afternoon over a year ago, I climbed onto the roof of our home in order to clear leaves from a clogged rain gutter. In so doing I placed too much weight on the gutter and it pulled away from its fastenings. I fell about twelve feet, landing headfirst on a stone wall. My first thought was that I was relieved I hadn't broken anything. However, I then noticed that I was bleeding profusely from an area on the back of the head.
I went into the house, where a family member called a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. Another call was made to a Christian Science nurse.
