I am so grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me

I am so grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me. I came into Science many years ago through a healing. At that time I was in a very bad emotional and mental state. I had spent years traveling and working overseas in an immoral environment. Then my marriage had broken up, and I'd returned to the United States to try to get a new start. I wasn't doing a very good job of it, however, because of major attitude problems. At one point the effort to "pull myself up by my own bootstraps" seemed to be too much for me, and I began to exhibit symptoms of severe mental illness.

My landlady was a Christian Scientist, and she gently—but with much confidence—suggested I read several Sentinel articles she gave me. I felt a spark of promise from the messages of these articles about God and man's true being, and this punched a hole in the blanket of fear that had seemed to be smothering me. Then my landlady suggested I get help through prayer from a Christian Science practitioner. I did this, and in a few days I was completely healed—not only of the mental illness but also of smoking, which I hadn't even mentioned to the practitioner. I have had many blessings in the years since that healing.
