A choice Christmas
Sometimes when Christmas glitters into view
we chain ourselves into
the pagan push of shopping,
stew of entertaining,
and unending fruitless chores.
Wrapped in trappings of the season
how can we sight the Christmas star?
Trapped in wrappings of the season
how can we trace its guiding light?
Quietly
the Christ awaits to bless
with blessings that increase and will endure,
that sparkle with hope and love,
unshackle with humility,
and satisfy with holiness and peace.
Let us choose the better part—
embrace the joy that elevates the heart.
