Science and Health, prayer, and law
In the last several months you might have seen a news story about the decision of a federal appeals court in the United States to deny an extension of the copyright of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
The extension had originally been granted in a private copyright bill passed by the United States Congress in 1971 .
The typical language of such news stories about court appeals tends to be rather dramatic and powerful. It may tell of earlier laws being "declared unconstitutional." The picture of previous rulings being "overturned," "struck down," and so on, often seems nearly physical in character.
