The Hampton County Guardian
A Christian Science shortwave radio station to be built in Hampton County highlighted discussion at the Hampton County Council meeting Monday night.
John H. Hoagland Jr., Manager of The Christian Science Publishing Society told councilmen of a proposal to build a shortwave radio station on 314 acres of land near Furman.
The station would broadcast 20 hours a day, with programming consisting mostly of news from The Christian Science Monitor, a daily newspaper the Society has published since 1908. The station would be the third and final station in an effort to broadcast to the whole world.
