FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
To understand myself
I wasn't looking for a particular healing. But being a high-school senior, I was making plans for college, and I felt nervous about being away from home. So I decided I had better prepare myself mentally and spiritually. I thought the best way to meet future challenges would be to try to understand myself and my religion better.
My Christian Science Sunday School teacher recommended that I begin to read a part of the Lesson Sermon Found in the Christian Science Quarterly. The weekly lessons are organized around twenty-six subjects, which occur twice a year. These lessons are read and studied during the week by students of Christian Science and are read as the sermon in the churches on Sunday . every day instead of just doing my Sunday School homework on Saturday or Sunday morning.
In order to relate the experience that followed, I need to explain a little about my attitude at this time. First, I wasn't getting along very well with my mother. We fought over the ordinary teen-age problems, especially my new boyfriend.
