Christian Science came into my family when my grandmother's cousin presented her with a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. This occurred in 1913 when my grandmother was suffering from tuberculosis and had been told by doctors that she wouldn't live. She did live! She was healed by reading and studying Science and Health and thereafter led an active life, rearing a large family and helping to organize a Christian Science Society in the small town where she lived. My mother had been a sickly child up to that time, but she was also healed through Science. Later she became an active Christian Scientist, and she remains so today.

Although I was reared in Christian Science, it was not until I witnessed my mother's healing of an internal growth in 1953 that I embraced this teaching seriously. The tumor, so large that friends thought she was pregnant, dissolved. This healing impressed many friends and family members, including my father, who soon started reading Christian Science literature and attending church. It continues to bless us, especially at those times we've needed reminding of the authenticity and power of Christian Science.

Since that healing, I have become a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and of The Mother Church, and I have received class instruction from a dedicated teacher of Christian Science. This instruction was of inestimable value while my children were growing up, and it continues to guide me in working out problems.
