In mid-August of my freshman year in college, I reported to a very hot and humid football camp. I was extremely eager for football to begin, but also tired from a long solo drive.
One night during the second week of football camp I suddenly felt a sharp abdominal pain. The pain persisted, so I quietly slipped out of the team members' dormitory room I was in and went to my own room. The next morning we were scheduled to scrimmage a nearby college team. When I woke I felt even worse than the night before, so I was granted permission to take the day off.
At that point I called a Christian Science practitioner to help me through prayer. The practitioner reminded me that, as God's child, I wasn't subject to disease, because disease wasn't and never had been part of God's creation. He went on to say that because God creates all, there isn't room for anything that God didn't make, and that we could be strong in claiming this as the truth of man's being.
