As a student of Christian Science I am constantly thanking God for the countless blessings I have received since childhood.

When I was twelve my father passed on suddenly and left my mother with six children to raise (I was the only boy). Several men in our neighborhood and our branch church, as well as relatives (including my very loving grandfather), provided fatherly companionship. But it was the teaching I received in the Christian Science Sunday School I attended while I was away at college that gave me a clearer understanding of God as the true Father and Mother of all of us.

At that time all feelings of loss and fear of death left me. I began to view man as the Bible presents him, expressing both masculine and feminine qualities, expressing complete identity that has its source in God. Along with this renewed sense of identity came a wonderful awareness of our Father-Mother God's provision that was evident to our whole family. All our family's needs were beautifully met through prayer, including the funds required to put six teen-agers through college.
