What a privilege it is to have Christian Science as a foundation...

What a privilege it is to have Christian Science as a foundation for daily living. In a testimony that was published in a 1949 issue of the Sentinel, I related an instantaneous healing that has been an inspiration to me through the years. I am grateful for many healings I have had since that time; some came after a long period of dedicated, prayerful study; others came very quickly.

A few years ago I spent many months seeking healing for a condition that affected my digestion and heart. Throughout those months I had help from Christian Science practitioners at various times. And, of course, I continued with my own diligent study.

There were times when I barely made it through the day. Then one morning after studying that week's Bible Lesson (outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly), I came across this line in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 371): "Truth is an alterative in the entire system, and can make it 'every whit whole.'" One dictionary definition of the word alterative reads: "tending to change a morbid state into one of health." I pondered the above statement from Science and Health over and over. As I did all fear and distress simply faded from consciousness, and I felt free and grateful to God for His love. The healing has been permanent, and I am truly grateful for proof of God's power to heal.
