Peace horizon
A peace more deep-rooted
than an old sequoia tree,
a peace more innocent
than the purest springhead stream,
a peace more profound
than the deepest ocean depths,
a peace more sound
than the strongest diamond rock,
a peace more poised
than the highest mountain peak,
a peace more far-reaching
than the beyondest star,
a peace more settled
than the greatest earthly calm—
I longed for such a peace as this.
Then I turned my gaze to God
and in humility could see
His peace
as a pinnacle of love and grace
speaking to the whole human race.
Give us the wisdom,
dear Father-Mother, Soul,
to make this peace our own.
