Defeating giants
We've all met "Goliath," in one form or other. How do we defeat the giant-sized problems that often confront us?
Why is the Biblical account of David's battle with Goliath so moving? We sense that the account is much deeper than the average "underdog wins out" story.
Mrs. Eddy, who in discovering and founding Christian Science slew many Goliaths, writes, "The central fact of the Bible is the superiority of spiritual over physical power." Science and Health, p. 131. Isn't David's victory over Goliath a demonstration of this "central fact," to which Mrs. Eddy referred?
Most of us have faced a challenge that seemed, at least at the time, the size of Goliath—perhaps a domineering boss, a serious illness, a failing marriage, or prolonged unemployment. What insights can we derive from David's experience to help us defeat our own giants?
