The healing power of spiritual purity
The world struggles over questions of moral integrity and purity. There are so many complex issues—important Supreme Court decisions in the United States that bear on the rights of individuals and the welfare of society; the changing structure of families and personal relationships; the highly publicized increase in teen-age pregnancies; the recent debates over "adult" magazine sales and the lyrics of contemporary music.
It seems the list could go on indefinitely. And most people would agree that a moral laxness erodes the value of life and breeds unhappiness, dissatisfaction, disease. Yet cutting through the moral confusion with an answer of peace and healing are the simple but powerful words of Christ Jesus, "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." Matt. 5:8.
To "see" God, divine Truth—to know Him and feel His presence and to understand His divine purpose for creation—enables the individual to climb out of the tangle of mere dogmatic assertions or personal opinions. Spiritual Truth has a redeeming effect in human experience and provides a proper basis for determining the course of individual actions as well as the moral standards that promote progress for society.
