One night I woke suddenly with dizziness and an extreme sense of weakness. I felt completely helpless, as I could not move—not even a finger. Nothing like this had ever happened to me before, and I became very fearful. I was alone and had no telephone by my bed to call for help. (Because I was so ill, I could not have reached for the phone anyway.)
I began to pray. It seemed a very difficult thing to do under the circumstances, but I prayed with deep sincerity the Lord's Prayer, with its spiritual interpretation, as found on pages 16 and 17 in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The prayer concludes:
