What to do when you face an impasse

What can we do when we face impasses in our lives—barriers that seem impossible to remove?

Having to face obstacles is nothing new. For example, the book of Exodus tells of the many difficulties the children of Israel faced in their flight from Egypt—among these the time when the Red Sea lay in front of them and Pharaoh's army was behind them. They were faced with what seemed an impossible situation. Fear encompassed them, and with fear came complaint about this hopeless circumstance. Why had they agreed to leave Egypt? Why?

It was then that their leader, Moses, told them, "Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever." Then "Moses stretched out his hand over the sea," and the waters divided. "And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left." Ex. 14:13, 21, 22.
