We can pray anywhere, anytime!
Prayer in school is the topic of much discussion today. In one sense, however, there's no need for discussion, because prayer is already going on in school. It is the silent communion anyone can have with God every minute of every day. Whether we're on a school bus, in the cafeteria, on the football field, or preparing to take a test, we can know that God is lovingly guiding us all the time. God loves us dearly, and we can prove divine Love's protection, instruction, and guidance in all we do.
The Bible tells us, "Pray without ceasing." I Thess. 5:17. How can we possibly do that? We can't keep our eyes closed and our hands folded while playing basketball or taking a test. A better understanding of God and prayer is needed here. Quiet communion with God can take place anywhere at any time. It does not need closed eyes or folded hands. It does need a thought closed to evil, error, and open to God and His ever-presence. As Christ Jesus said, "When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret." Matt. 6:6.
Our unceasing prayer also includes our daily living of Christlike qualities. While our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, did take time frequently to pray by himself, his life was a constant living prayer. His actions were prayer-based, loving, pure, and wise. This is the prayer we can have also. Following Jesus' example, we can fill our lives with good works and blessings to others, thus doing unto others as we would have them do unto us.
