I am very happy to be a student of Christian Science, and I am...
I am very happy to be a student of Christian Science, and I am deeply grateful for those who started me in this path of freedom, where I have found the truth I had sought for such a long time.
Years ago I suffered sharp pains in my feet. At the outset I prayed, affirming the unreality of this condition, but the condition continued to bother me. I prayed more earnestly, yet the symptoms became increasingly aggressive. Finally I could hardly walk.
I decided then to ask a Christian Science practitioner to support me through prayer. I kept on studying Christian Science and praying, and I was especially inspired by reading of Jacob's struggle at Peniel. The Bible tells us (Gen. 32:24, 27, 28, 30): "And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.... And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.... And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved."
