The testimonies of healing in the Christian Science periodicals have given me such joy, inspiration, and encouragement over the years that it is high time I added my own with the prayer that someone else may find it helpful.

Christian Science came into my life very gently some twenty years ago, and it became more important to me until it was the only way of life I wanted. I wasn't looking for healing; in fact, I was in very good health. Later I went through a period when quite a number of health problems had to be worked out. But I can see now that I was being educated away from a belief of either sickness or health in matter to an understanding of life in God, Spirit.

What has been most wonderful to me is the overcoming of extreme shyness, self-consciousness, and lack of confidence. As a child I was painfully shy. "Painful" is an accurate description, for I was petrified of being called on in class, even though I was a good student and usually knew the answer. Even in college it was virtually impossible for me to volunteer an answer or remark. And I very nearly didn't apply to the graduate school of my choice because the thought of facing the required oral examination to receive a degree seemed overwhelming.
