FOR CHILDREN
Does God know about accidents?
It was a golden Sunday afternoon in August, and the family was having a happy time helping to clean up the yard. Mother was weeding, Geoffrey was raking, Joanna was sweeping up the dirt, Kevin was pushing the wheelbarrow, Hilary was helping Father to pick up the leaves, and the littlest sister, Jessica, was gathering twigs.
It was a gentle day, and the garden glowed under the care. Everything looked tidy and green. Soon it would be time to have a nice hot supper and perhaps discuss what the children had learned that morning in the Christian Science Sunday School. The whole family was just beginning to learn the truth that God is Love, and is our real Father-Mother. They were starting to feel that Father-Mother God is everywhere, always protecting and guarding His children from any danger or hurt.
Suddenly something happened. Jessica climbed onto the seat of her brother's tricycle. It was much too big for a little girl two years old, and her feet couldn't even reach the pedals. The tricycle was on the sidewalk above the driveway, and before anyone could stop her, Jessica had turned the handlebars. The tricycle began rolling down the concrete driveway. It all happened so quickly that no one was near enough or fast enough to catch her. The driveway was short but steep. The tricycle gathered speed and then hit a deep crack in the concrete, and with a crash Jessica was thrown off the seat and straight onto the rough pavement.
