For many fine healings received during a lifetime of studying Christian Science, I am sincerely grateful. My mother was healed of typhoid fever around the turn of the century. Some years later she enrolled her children in the Christian Science Sunday School. Some of my fondest memories are of my Sunday School days. I attended regularly until the age of twenty, and I am very appreciative of the helpful instruction I received from my teachers there.

Twenty years ago, for nearly a year I was troubled with a serious and painful back condition. During this period I was also experiencing grief and loneliness. Three members of my family had passed on in recent years. I was alone and endeavoring to run a business, which was failing. I was certainly feeling sorry for myself and wasn't spending sufficient time in prayer and the study of Christian Science.

It was several months before I realized that the acceptance of a false sense of self was the reason for my inharmonious, unhappy, and burdensome condition. I realized I must get back to the study of Science and pray to get mortal self out of the way.
