At the time when our daughter-in-law was due to have her first baby, our son telephoned me from the hospital asking for prayerful help, as there seemed to be complications. Our daughter-in-law had been delivered by Caesarean section and is of a very small build. There was concern that her child would have to be delivered by Caesarean.
I asked our son to call me again when the doctor arrived. Then I hung up the telephone and prayed, acknowledging God as the only Mind of the entire universe—governing and controlling all His children. As God is Life, He is the source of all life, all true being. Eternal Life can include no destructive elements—no stoppage or inactivity. Because there is only one cause and creator, all God's ideas unfold harmoniously in their proper order, under His divine direction. This statement came to thought (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 506): "Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear."
A clear realization of God as the strong deliverer, meeting all human needs, came to thought, and I carefully pondered a hymn with words by Mrs. Eddy, especially the beginning of the last stanza (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 298): "Strongest deliverer, friend of the friendless, / Life of all being divine."
