In early December one year, I felt impelled to deepen my understanding of Christian Science by seeking a better understanding of Christ. Some ideas which came to my attention through my study were these: The Christ is the true idea of God; the Christ is always present with us; the Christ reveals the true facts of God at all times. I especially loved the thought that the Christ reveals the truth and that we can depend on it without fail. The Christ illumines, impels, directs, motivates, and shepherds human thought to a higher apprehension of man's nature as the outcome of God, Mind.

About two weeks after I undertook this study of the meaning of Christ, I became quite ill. This was just before Christmas, and because we had relatives coming for the holidays, I kept up my normal routine. However, by Christmas Day the symptoms of pneumonia were apparent (though not medically diagnosed), and the relatives thoughtfully shortened their visit.

A Christian Science practitioner was called at this time for prayerful help. Because of some of the symptoms, I was not able to read much, to speak clearly, or to sleep normally. Yet as each symptom was related to the practitioner, it was completely eliminated. Although the condition was not healed immediately, the healing of each of the symptoms through the prayer of the practitioner gave me a great sense of comfort and safety and encouraged me to continue relying on Christian Science for healing.
