I want to record my deep gratitude for the teachings of Christian Science

I want to record my deep gratitude for the teachings of Christian Science. I have daily depended on its help, receiving wonderful healings and marvelous protection through many, many years. One time, years ago, I was traveling with relatives to Long Island, New York, to see some of the first airplanes. I was riding in the rumble seat of a roadster. Suddenly, a wheel fell off the car, which caused it to veer sharply and then turn over. I was thrown to the side of the road, but sustained only a small cut, which quickly healed as did all sense of shock. I was praying as I had learned in Christian Science when this occurred. (Except for my aunt who had a broken collarbone for which she was briefly hospitalized, no one else was injured.)

After I was married I joined a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and The Mother Church in Boston. When our first child was an infant, one Sunday morning I was taking her into the bathroom and the flames of a small gas heater fanned out and my apron caught fire. I quickly slipped the child into the empty bathtub. My husband and I subdued the flames, which had reached the top of the wool suit I was wearing. My hands were badly burned, and I was in severe pain.

Neighbors took care of the child, who was unhurt, while my husband took me to church. I knew that the inspiration I would get at the service would be what I needed. I was completely healed in that service, and when I reached home I was able to resume all of my household chores and the care of the baby. There were never any scars.
