I was brought up in a Protestant religion, but I did not stick with it, as it did not answer my questions about God. Later my experience attending a university turned me toward atheism and agnosticism. Finally, tired of having nothing really to believe in, I began to investigate many of the world's great religions.
After college I married. My husband was a Christian Scientist, and I went to church with him. But I didn't understand what I heard there, so I still searched. I thought, "Something made us; something keeps the basic order and harmony in the world. Something governs. Is it nature? But what's behind nature?"
Christian Science teaches that there is one Supreme Being—God, whose law of good governs man and the universe. This law manifests divine intelligence—one infinite intelligence. If this were not so, conflicting powers would rule, and that would mean chaos. But there isn't chaos. I could see order, so the law of God governing all, must be the truth. This way of reasoning began to convince me, so I started seriously studying Science. In the years since, I have had many experiences which have proved to me that God is, indeed, in control and Christian Science is the truth.
