Thirty years ago a fellow worker gave me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, with the remark, "Read, test, and judge!" I was very skeptical. After a short time of reading and testing, however, I could judge, and I decided that the book was what I had been looking for and needed. I began to attend services in a Christian Science Society, and also to study the weekly Bible Lesson outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly.

At that time my health was very poor. I could take only light nourishment and was often apathetic. Soon I noticed changes in myself. I felt more joy in living and had a better appetite. The time came when I could eat normally. Because the study of Christian Science was having such a favorable effect on my health, I eventually decided to apply for church membership. I was very grateful when I was accepted as a member of a Christian Science Society and of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.

When I was serving as Second Reader in the society, I had the following healing. I had gone to work as usual one day when severe symptoms suddenly developed in one leg. In compliance with the company's requirements I was examined by a doctor, who diagnosed the condition as phlebitis. I was taken home, and I requested help through prayer from an experienced Christian Scientist. Through trusting solely in the all-presence and allpower of God, I was healed and able to perform my duties as Second Reader three days later, on Sunday.
