People who feel desperate can be helped by...
People who feel desperate can be helped by prayer; I'm completely convinced of this because it happened to me.
It was a time when I was facing critical decisions. I had lost my equilibrium completely. I had been cut off from my family and I felt emotionally lost. I remember having no more questions or feelings. I had stopped crying. The days were dark tunnels. I didn't want to be with anyone. I couldn't talk about what was going on; there seemed no answers to my problems.
A college friend knew of my turmoil and at one point had asked, "Can I pray for you?" I said it wouldn't help, even though I really did love Christian Science, and until recently had vaguely tried to pray myself about this situation. She was a Christian Scientist and said, "But can I?" and I said, "If you want to." That was a couple of days before I decided to end my life. I felt without hope, and had just that one compulsion to escape, which didn't even seem like my own thinking.
