Night thoughts

For untold years people have had a tendency to be afraid of the dark or nighttime.

These fears are being slowly replaced by a more progressive and rational view of things; we have begun to understand that nighttime does not necessarily have to be bad. However, in spite of this progress, superstitions about nighttime still tend to linger in one form or another.

The Bible tells us that the mandate of creation was "Let there be light." Gen. 1:3. God never created evil, nor did He create an illusion or suggestion of evil. God knows only light—the light of Truth and Love. This is the light of all things real and good. Biblical writers saw this great fact and learned spiritual lessons from it. The author of Psalm 139 poured forth these words: "If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee." Ps. 139:11,12.
