Since my last published testimony a number of years ago, I have had healings including those of an infection, and a severely injured arm and ankle. Through these healings I have learned that challenges really are opportunities to prove God's care.

One hot day at the construction site of our new home, I brought a cold drink to the workmen. However, when I lifted a bottle of soda out of the paper bag, it suddenly exploded with great force, sending glass into my face, scalp, and arm. My right cheek was cut open and my left wrist cut. My eyes must have closed simultaneously with the explosion, but before attempting to open them I considered carefully the first part of the definition of "eyes" given in the Glossary of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 586): "Eyes. Spiritual discernment,—not material but mental." I knew clearly my identity as God's spiritual idea, exempt from accidents.

Then I opened my eyes, which were uninjured, and called out to my husband. He helped me return home to read the Bible Lesson for the week (outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly), which I had read earlier that day. Doing this silenced anxious thoughts.
