Church expresses the symmetry of Science and Christianity
Symmetrical: being such that the terms may be interchanged without altering the value, character, or truth.
(A mathematical application of the term, as given in Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary.)
Some recent discussions about Christian Science have forced me to examine the structure of the Church of Christ, Scientist, more closely. I was asked specifically, "Why did Mary Baker Eddy choose to house her educational system within a church? Why not the other way around, establishing these Christian teachings within a strictly educational format?"
