At one time I manifested symptoms of tonsillitis

At one time I manifested symptoms of tonsillitis. I had suffered previously from this trouble and was now delirious and bedridden, unable even to swallow. And my young daughter, Elisabeth, had symptoms of the disease too.

I'd studied Christian Science all my life, and frankly up to this point I had almost come to take for granted the healing I expected. But I needed to pray specifically as we are taught to do in this Science.

Then the phone rang. I was called to give a talk on the other side of the state about a book I had written. That call awakened me. I began to pray in Science for myself and my daughter, affirming spiritual truths I had learned years earlier in the Christian Science Sunday School. But I felt too weak to pray adequately.
