Like Moses standing before the Red Sea with the command...

Like Moses standing before the Red Sea with the command from God to go forward (see Ex. 14:15), we too have opportunities to express dominion over what seem to be formidable material obstacles. And we can trust God supremely with the guidance and unfoldment of our careers.

At one time for several months I had been preparing for the making of a filmed dramatic short. Then four days into principal photography a major crisis threatened to close down the entire project. The location where we had begun filming and were to return to the following weekend suddenly became unavailable to us. Because this situation threatened to affect the livelihood of forty crew members, I got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to pray for me—to help me free my own thought from fear and doubt.

My thought began to calm, and I reevaluated a conversation I had had with one of the office managers of the location in question. Recognizing a perceptiveness on his part, I reasoned that where one quality of God is, there is infinite light. The religious article in The Christian Science Monitor that day was on the subject of recovering that which is lost. The inspiration I derived from reading this article lifted my thought beyond the scenario of little mortal minds trying desperately to convince each other of their individual rights. I then faced and refuted the belief that material conditions can in any way hinder man's expression of God-given dominion, harmony, and peace. I went to sleep that evening fully confident that I would reapproach the officers of the location in the morning with success.
