I love my job as a summer camp counselor, and I've learned much from the challenges I've dealt with through Christian Science while at camp.

One summer I worked hard to be less conscious of a personal sense of myself and more conscious of my innate goodness as God's child so that I could help others more. Later in the summer I noticed some physical discomfort, so I pondered this statement in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 151): "Every function of the real man is governed by the divine Mind." I knew that nothing could stand in the way of good, or in the way of my doing what I needed to do.

Then one night the pain became intense. I called a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me, and I felt the support of this prayer. During that night friends stayed with me and read aloud from Science and Health. I was touched by the Christ-love they manifested. As I endeavored to be steadfast and patient with myself, there was some relief. For the next few days I was in close communication with the practitioner. But there were still some challenges.
