A healing response to stress and anxiety
Many people have come to accept the supposition that stress and anxiety can have a harmful effect on one's health. Christian Science, however, provides us with a healing response to such destructive tendencies of mortal thought. This Science reveals the omnipotent saving power and grace of God to overcome any form of discord.
Certainly the quality of an individual's thinking does largely determine the quality of his life, and the world offers many human techniques for improving one's thinking. But permanent healing comes only through regeneration, as the power of God destroys false human belief—the ignorance, the fear, or the sin—that is fundamentally at the root of a physical difficulty. Only Christ, God's saving message to mankind, can really transform one's consciousness through prayer and restore full mental, physical, and moral well-being to the sufferer.
Wholly apart from the theory and practice of any material or psychological method, the Science of Christ affirms that because all sickness has its foundation in false mortal mentality, disease is actually illusory—whether it appears to stem from stress or any other supposed cause. God, perfect Love, does not create discord but harmony. Nor does He vengefully impose suffering on His children. God is omnipotent good, the only real cause. As we come to understand these facts, we also comprehend more clearly why sickness is to be classified as error, illusion, a misconception of true being—and how sickness is healed by Christ, Truth.
