A glimpse of reality
Forgiveness and regeneration, loving comfort, healing—these have all been experienced by individuals who have gained even a glimpse of divine reality. The perception of infinite Truth that comes through prayer as taught in Christian Science can have a remarkable transforming effect in people's lives.
Divine Truth is God, and to understand even a little of what Truth really is also reveals more of what man—God's expression—really is. Our concept of who we are is thereby redeemed step by step. And instead of seeing ourselves as merely helpless mortals, sick or sorrowful or sinning, we envision and are able to demonstrate something of our true identity as the likeness of Spirit. We come to understand man as the manifestation of omnipotent Mind; as the beloved of all-embracing Love.
A modest appraisal of our present spiritual progress would certainly acknowledge that we all have a distance yet to go along the road to ascension! But we can gain ever new views of the spiritual facts of being, "the eternal verities" of God and man, and build our lives on what we're seeing—what we're understanding through spiritual sense—until the divine reality more and more becomes the way we consistently perceive existence. In speaking of man's Maker, Mrs. Eddy writes: "His modes declare the beauty of holiness, and His manifold wisdom shines through the visible world in glimpses of the eternal verities." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 363.
