When my husband retired a few years ago, we decided to relocate to a sunny southern state that we had visited many times and that we loved. We then put our house up for sale. It was on leased land on a small lake, and we had invested much time and money in it. However, the suggestion came that it would be very hard, even impossible, to get a fair price for it. But we had been students of Christian Science for many years and knew that "with God all things are possible," as Christ Jesus said (Matt. 19:26). And, as Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health, p. 206): "In the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all, as Jesus showed with the loaves and the fishes,—Spirit, not matter, being the source of supply."

Soon we had two prospective buyers very interested in our house, but both had property to sell first. Meanwhile, to our surprise, try as we would, and listen for God's directing as we did, we couldn't decide on a definite place in the southern state to move to. Finally we took our house off the market for several months.

Later, one day when we were taking some household things to our cottage in the northern part of our native state, we had lunch in a small city in the area. While we were there, it dawned on us almost simultaneously that this city had much to offer as a place to live. In fact, it seemed so right that we proceeded to place our house on the market again. Over the next year, although we had several offers, the house was not sold. Meanwhile, however, we were able to move to the new location before the house was sold. We continued to pray every day, to listen for God's direction. And though we still couldn't see how all the details would finally work out, we knew that God was in control of the whole situation and is the source of all right action.
