I have known of Christian Science since I was very young, as we had some cousins who were Christian Scientists. When I was seventeen years of age, I began attending a Christian Science Sunday School. After graduating from Sunday School in my twentieth year, I attended services in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, read the Christian Science periodicals, and studied the Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. After I married I was no longer able to attend church, as I helped my husband run a boarding kennel and we were especially busy on weekends. However, I did send my children to a Christian Science Sunday School.

When I was widowed a few years ago, I wanted to make a new life for myself. My husband had been ill for years and had been unable to accept Christian Science. Now I was alone, and I prayed diligently for God's truth to be expressed through me. Consequently, my life style and surroundings improved. And I joined The Mother Church and a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.

During one of my moves, while lifting an extremely heavy box, I dislocated my shoulder. The protruding bone was visible and, while I could move my arm forward, I could not move it even an inch away from my side. I called a Christian Science practitioner, and she said that she would pray for me.
