Christian Science came to me when I was a young woman and mother; its introduction was the most blessed experience of my life. Prior to that time I despaired of ever living a normal, happy life because of what had seemed to me a very harsh and loveless childhood.

Throughout a period of many months I had been praying as best I knew how, holding to Christ Jesus' words (Matt. 21:22), "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." When finally, after a series of events, I felt led to attend a service at a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I was comforted to see these very words inscribed on the front wall of the church. I soon found that Christian Science was what I had been searching for all of my life—it made God's love for me understood and felt, and filled my heart with a joy and peace that I had never known.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy then became my constant companion. It was kept at my bedside or under my pillow where I could immediately reach for it upon waking. What I was learning of God gave me much joy and support. Yet I also found that there were still many human snarls for me to unwind.
