What if ...?
Do you ever find yourself wondering what may happen if some dreaded eventuality materializes, or if some cherished aspiration does not?
If we view ourselves as helpless victims of circumstance, this type of thinking seems normal. But if we are relying on Christian Science, we find such questioning to be inconsistent—in fact, detrimental. As Mrs. Eddy points out in Science and Health: "To calculate one's life-prospects from a material basis, would infringe upon spiritual law and misguide human hope." Science and Health, p. 319. In the final analysis mortal calculations amount to nothing but a detour leading away from our goal of spiritual understanding and healing.
Success in reaching this goal is in proportion to our steadfast conviction that God, Spirit, is the creator and controller of all and that spiritual, perfect, dominion-endowed man is His inevitable outcome. On this basis we can authoritatively refute any evidence the material senses may present to the contrary.
