The pain of a locked shoulder once plagued me for ten days
The pain of a locked shoulder once plagued me for ten days. During this time I steadfastly continued to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and spoke daily to a Christian Science practitioner.
On the tenth evening it seemed I could stand the pain no longer. I removed my glasses, put down my copy of Science and Health, and cried in despair, feeling sure that this time Christian Science was not working.
When the tears were spent I was surprised to find that my left hand was reaching for my glasses as my right hand again picked up that dear book. I opened it at random, and the first words that caught my eye were (p. 22): "If your endeavors are beset by fearful odds, and you receive no present reward, go not back to error, nor become a sluggard in the race."
