Christ—healer of the physical body
The healing of the body in Christian Science is based on the fact that man is spiritual, formed and controlled by divine Mind. While this truth isn't perceptible to physical sense, it is discernible to spiritual sense.
It's through spiritual sense that we perceive Truth, which comes to us as the Christ, or God's divine message. The human body is responsive to the Christ. This sometimes seems hard to comprehend, because it is not understood that corporeality is actually mental—a construction of mortal belief—from the bone structure to the action of the nervous system.
The physical body represents the general error of limitation, or life in matter. Discord in the body is a manifestation of specific error held by mortal mind and obtruding itself upon the individual's thought. Disease, dislocations, broken bones, improper action (or inaction) of an organ—these are mental, even if the cause of the trouble appears undeniably physical. To bring about the needed adjustment, the sufferer's thought must be relieved of the error oppressing it. The material conception of man must give way, in a degree, to the spiritual idea, true manhood.
