My gratitude to God for Mary Baker Eddy, who established and founded Christian Science, is unbounded. We have experienced many wonderful healings in our family throughout the years.

About a year ago, our young son ran into the path of an oncoming car and was seriously injured. My husband went outside to get him, and I immediately called a local Christian Science practitioner. I was very upset, but her first words to me were, "His innocency has protected him." This helped me stop being fearful. But I also found that I had to combat many erroneous thoughts, such as the belief of broken bones.

At the beginning my husband and I agreed that we did not want our son to go to the hospital. However, the paramedics stated that he had a concussion and since he couldn't remember anything, it appeared there might be brain damage. They also informed us that the police could force us to take our son to the hospital. We didn't know whether this was true, but we didn't pursue it. Instead we prayed and then informed the paramedics that we would allow the boy to go to the hospital but asked that no medication be administered to him.
