As a student of Christian Science I have had many proofs of the healing power of God's love. In my early study of this Science, I was besieged by a stomach condition that made it almost impossible to keep food down. Although the healing was not a quick one, I learned much from it. Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 254), "To stop eating, drinking, or being clothed materially before the spiritual facts of existence are gained step by step, is not legitimate." I knew it was necessary and proper to eat each day. And it finally was clear to me that the stomach, as matter, had no more power over me than the dish from which my food was served. After that realization I never suffered again with the stomach trouble.

A severe case of sunburn, acquired on a cloudy and hazy Fourth of July outing, yielded quickly to the power of Truth. Especially helpful was this verse in Psalms (56:4): "In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me." Through this healing I was able to demonstrate in some measure that divine Love is the liberator, and that my real spiritual nature is not subject to any so-called laws of matter or mortal mind.

One evening upon retiring, I seemed to experience a heart attack. I got up and went into the living room to pray. The first part of "the scientific statement of being" came to thought (Science and Health, p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." I affirmed that this statement was the reality of my being at that very moment.
