Liberating logic

Christian Science treatment, though essentially prayer, may benefit from a conscious application of the discipline of logic. Drawing reasonable conclusions from what is being proved in a practical way of the verities of God, and of man created in His likeness, orders our thoughts and aids in lifting them above the reports of the deceitful material senses. Thus logic, when its premises are drawn from the infallible revelations of divine Truth with motives of unselfed love, renders us receptive to the healing effects of cultivated spiritual sense. When we work from the standpoint of inspired, scientific reasoning, our prayer is filled with spiritual assurance.

In parable and precept, Christ Jesus reasoned with his listeners, and healing results confirmed the divinity of his logic. Jesus' disciples reasoned in obedient effort to raise their awe of their Master to an understanding and demonstration of the radical teaching that he was presenting to them (see Matt. 16:6-12). Perhaps their failures and successes in healing work indexed in some degree the quality of their logic.

Some people may resist logic because it tends to show up the fallacy of pet theories and opinions and to demand of them changes they don't want to make. Others, however, may say they don't know how to reason, because they don't realize that they already do (unconsciously, perhaps) apply the laws of logic.
