To loosen and let—versus holding on
He wanted to look out
From the point of his own experience.
And I was wont to say:
"Be careful.
Watch out—you'll fall.
Don't you know there's a steep drop there?
How will you get back up?
Do you have to go that way?"
More and more I was pressed by anxiety,
Until I stopped to ponder what he might say to me:
"You be careful.
Watch out—you'll fall
Into a pit of false responsibility.
How will you get back up—to trust in God?
'Do you have to go along—outlining another's way?"
Touche! An angel message scored!
My faith in God's guidance—restored.
And I'm learning to live that "Be still, and know..."
That enables us to loosen,
And then let grow.
