Safety in flying

Many are the proofs I have had that Christian Science can protect us in flying. Twice aircraft that I was piloting crashed. Once I was brought in safely on radar in a cyclonic evening sandstorm and with almost no visibility. Another time, as I was practicing "slips" (forcing the plane to descend more rapidly in a deflected position) the entire control stick, which the mechanic had neglected to bolt into its socket, came out in my hand while the plane was still some five or six feet from the ground. In every instance I stepped out of the plane unharmed.

Each experience has left me unshaken—and more confident that God will give us, in all forms of travel, the angel thoughts we need to bring us "safely, surely home." Christian Science Hymnal, No. 420.

I recall once saying to an experienced Christian Scientist, in bidding him "bon voyage" for an overseas flight, that God would be with him. And he gave me this useful answer: "Yes, I will keep it all in mind" (meaning in Mind, God). Likewise, we can all lift our sense of travel to a spiritual level.
