It was my privilege to be raised in a home where both parents were dedicated students of Christian Science. The harmony I witnessed and the security I felt while growing up, I attribute to the stabilizing influence the study of Science brings to those striving to demonstrate its truths.
During my early school years I was healed of measles, mumps, chicken pox, and whooping cough. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and in each case the symptoms vanished in a day or two. In more recent years I have been protected on several occasions from automobile accidents, and in one instance I was unharmed when my car was involved in a chain-reaction accident on a freeway. With the prayerful support of a practitioner, I saw the situation harmoniously resolved.
One time I came home from work manifesting severe symptoms of flu. I felt barely able to crawl into bed and call a practitioner. But I did. The practitioner was instant and sure in denying that flu was any part of my true selfhood, of man's spiritual identity. Within an hour every symptom had vanished.
