Footsteps leading to fruition
The Bible is replete with action verbs that instruct and inspire. Sometimes these words fall into a pattern suggesting orderly steps we can take to understand their deeper meaning.
Christ Jesus said to all who would follow him: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Matt. 7:7. Why this grouping? And why not seeking first, knocking next, and finally asking? It is useful to ponder the order of these verbs.
For many it is not easy to ask for something of value. It's easier to hope that whatever is desired will simply be forthcoming. It may take some humility and a degree of courage to ask.
