Awakening thoughts
Greetings, day! (you shining morsel of Life's light!)
No drag-me-from-bed drowsiness,
no mumble-grumble nine to five-er—
no, not my day.
The sun's not up yet, but I am.
HA—that's a sham! The sun is always there.
Earth's gentle fullness soon will wear its
morning frock of light reflected.
Is God up this morning?
He's never gone down,
nor has any frown of obscurity
ever darkened His glorious purity—
omnipotent glow of allness.
Thought turns with natural dayness
to settled,
changeless Soul,
the author of you perfect day.
